Well, if the new patent that Apple has submitted comes into production then your wish will come true as Apple are looking at using face recognition software through the front facing cameras on their devices.

This of course is nothing new as the latest Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich, already has this feature and is on the shelves. Is this another example of Apple being left behind in the tech race? Well, at first glance yes, but if you dig deeper you see that Apple are actually looking at taking this idea to the next level as they are not looking at using the software just to unlock the phone, but operate other functions as well through gesture control.

If this actually works, it could give Apple an edge over the competition as Android continues to gain market share at twice the pace of Apple at present so it will be really interesting to see if this actually arrives anytime soon.
