Samsung's new Open OS called Bada

The South Korean electronics giant is poised to launch its very own open source operating system which will see it go head to head with Google’s Android platform. The operating system is being called Samsung ‘Bada’ which means Ocean in Korean and starting this month Developers will be able to get access to the source code to begin developing content and applications to work with the new platform.

Samsung have confirmed that the platform will be open to other operators and manufacturers and it will give them the ability to create their own interfaces. Developers have been invited to the developers day held in London during this month to explore the opportunities available on this new platform.

Samsung will continue to launch a range of devices on the Android platform and plan to have the first Bada operated device available by Q2 2010.
