In a string of law suits and cases against other manufacturers, Motorola have joined the party by filing a case against Research In Motion (RIM) the company who manufacture the popular BlackBerry smartphone devices to prevent them from importing its products into the US.
Motorola claim that the Canadian firm RIM have been illegally using its Wi-Fi related technology without renewing its cross licensing agreement and Motorola haven’t stopped there because they already have a case pending against RIM for ‘delaying tactics’ and they have even lodged a compliant with the US International Trade Commission to get a speedier result.
A legal representative for Motorola commented that “Motorola has no choice but to file a complaint with the ITC to halt RIM’s continued infringementâ€. He went on to say “These patented technologies are important to Motorola as they allow for more comprehensive connectivity, a better user experience and lower product costsâ€.
