In a session at the ‘Connect’ technology summit in London both RIM and Microsoft admitted that Apple have created a device that is still having a major impact on the consumer market 2 years on.
Microsoft’s UK head of mobility, Phil Moore stated that “Apple threw away the rulebook and reinvented it with the launch of the iPhone.” He went on to say that “Apple caught us all napping”.
We agree that Apple have made a massive impression on the industry especially when they decided that they were going to charge for their iconic device. Whether you love or hate the iPhone even you would have to agree that the touch screen intelligent smart phone is a cut above the rest and the industry is definitely playing catch up.
I suppose the frustrating thing for the other manufacturers is that a device like this was probably pencilled in for launch within the next 2 years but they were beaten to it. Well, we not only applaud Apple for waking up an industry that was using the size of the mega pixels on a camera as a measurement of supremacy we also applaud them for giving us the ability to customise our devices to our wants and needs through a simple way to download applications.
